DEPARTMENT OF DISTANCE EDUCATION

The Department of Distance Education (Department) at Public Administration Academy of RA is a structural sub-division of the Academy. Its function is to provide distance education with higher and supplementary professional education program under the Legislation of RA and the Charter of the Department of  Distance Education.

Objectives and problems of Department

The objective of Department is to secure accessibility, availability and continuousness of education by application of technologies of distance education with higher and supplementary professional educational programs, as well as to support the creation and conduct of courses on the platform of distance education.

The problem of Department are:

• To support the creation of modern education system by applying distance education technologies;
• To systematize documents that are related to distance education;
• To apply new education technologies and methods in distance education;
• To study the leading experience in order to decide the necessity of its application in education process of the Academy;
• In compliance with the current requirements, to work out education-methodological packages and other materials for application on the platform of distance education;
• To establish e-base of educational and methodological data on the platform of distance education which are drafted in packages of separate courses of distance education;
• To secure permanent exchange of information and communication between stakeholders of quality assurance of professional education;
• To contribute to registration of the participants of courses of distance education, as well as automatic accumulation and elaboration of data of performed educational progress;
• To help the professorial staff of the Academy who carry out distance education, the trainees and as well as the students of distance education with information and methodic;
• To assist to renovation, review and application of training programs that are carried out as distance education;
• To control the execution of distance education.

Functions of Department

The Department executes:

• Elaboration of the strategic plan of distance education;
• Elaboration and modernization of guidelines of distance education;
• Presentation of offers directed toward renovation, review and application of training programs that are carried out as distance education;
• Elaboration of education programs of distance education jointly with the Chairs of the Academy, and presentation of these programs to approval of the Scientific Council;
• Supervision over education process of distance education;
• Assistance to creation and conduct of courses on the platform of distance education;
• Consultancy over application of new methods and tools on distance education;
• Supervision over execution of education on the platform of distance education (video-conferences, webinars, tests, tasks and individual work);
• Supervision over activities of professorial staff on the platform of distance education;
• Supervision over presence and participation of participants on the platform of distance education;
• Assistance to inquiries on teaching quality and effectiveness;
• Calculation, analysis and explanation of evaluation of distance education, presentation of suggestions to the Rector of the Academy, which are based on the outcomes and are targeted at development of education process;
• Execution of other functions that proceed from the Charter of the Academy.
